Steven Gerrard

I think that all of you know who is Steven Gerrard , so we'll talk about his career at Liverpool and the national team of England.


Short history:

To begin with, he was born on 30 May 1980 in Whiston, Merseyside. He started playing football for his hometown team, where was noticed by Liverpool scouts and later, at the age of 9, he joined Liverpool Academy. 8 years later, he signed his first professional contract with Liverpool on 5 November 1997.

His first appearance for Liverpool first team was on 29 November 1998 in a Preamier League Match against Blackburn Rovers.

Later in the 1999-2000 season, he scored his first senior goal in a 4-1 victory over Sheffield.

In the season 2000-2001, he made 50 starts in all competitions and scored 10 goals as he won his first trophies with Liverpool : League Cup, FA Cup and UEFA Cup. In the following season he would go to win FA Charity Shield and Uefa Super Cup.

Since 2003, he is the captain for Liverpool after he replaced Sami Hyypia and he chose to extend his contract at the club.

Steven Gerrard won the Uefa Champions League in 2006 after the amazing match against AC Milan when he scored one goal and was named the Man of the Match and later recevied the Uefa Club Footballer of the Year.


He made his international debut against Ukraine on 31 May 2000, and scored his first goal in 2002 against Germany. He was named permanent captain of the national team of England by Roy Hodgson in time for the euro 2012. Gerrard was the only England player to be named in the UEFA Team of the Tournament.
